One of Washington’s most renowned musical ensembles, The Barclay Brass, will perform on Sunday, June 13 at 3:00 PM at a Benefit Concert as GNCH nears completion of the 60thapartment furnished for refugee families newly entering the U.S. The Concert will take place on the plaza in front of the Lutheran Church of the Reformation at 212 E. Capitol St., NE.
Since 2016 a coalition of eight Capitol Hill congregations plus volunteers from around the DMV have fully furnished nearly sixty apartments as well as helped new arrivals (mostly from Afghanistan) learn English, qualify for employment, obtain drivers’ licenses, and navigate the challenges of adapting to a new culture.
Created by Trumpeter Nathan Clark, trombonist David Miller and tubist Willie Clark, The Barclay Brass is one of the area’s premier performing groups known for its renditions of ceremonial, classical and seasonal music. The group has performed at important ceremonial events and for audiences including the President and the Pope.
